A 50 year old Pictou County man has died after a car crash Saturday night. RCMP were called to the West Branch Road in River John around 6:30PM. The male driver of one vehicle died in hospital, while an adult female passenger from another vehicle suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.

On Friday at Christopher Garnier’s murder trial the final witness, a man who briefly dated Catherine Campbell, took the stand. The man, whose name is banned from publication, told the jury he had sex with Campbell twice and at one point put his hands at her throat. Garnier has testified that Campbell died in September 2015 after she asked him to slap and choke her at a Halifax apartment.

A woman in Halifax jumped to her safety from her second story apartment window to escape a fire on Saturday night. Firefighters were called to Coburg Road near Dal around 11:30PM. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
