An 80 year old Nova Scotia woman has died in New Brunswick after the car she was in left the road and landed in a ditch. On Saturday afternoon RCMP responded to the crash on the edge of the Acadian Peninsula. The driver and 2 other passengers remain hospital and are expected to survive.

A second degree murder trial is scheduled to begin in Halifax today. 29 year old Christopher Garnier is facing charges of second degree murder and interfering with human remains in the death of 36 year old Truro police officer Catherine Campbell. Campbell’s remains were found in September 2015 near Halifax’s MacDonald bridge.

Tim Houston, MLA for Pictou East, has announced that he is running to be the leader of Nova Scotia’s PC Party. Current party leader Jamie Baillie announced earlier this month he would be stepping down from his position after 7 years. So far Houston is the only MLA to announce a bid for the leadership.
