Cloudy with a chance of showers & the temperature will drop to 4 this afternoon


A group of business people are making a play for a Canadian Football League franchise in Halifax. Yesterday the league confirmed it has been in touch with a group interested in securing a team for the city. A 25,000 seat stadium would be necessary to make a CFL franchise possible however Mayor Mike Savage says this isn’t something the city is interested in financing.

The inventory at Walmart in North Sydney is being removed after a marine flare was lit inside the store last week. The senior director of corporate affairs for Walmart Canada says the damage is in the millions. The Cape Breton Regional Fire Service team says the smoke was non-toxic, but there were irritants in the residue.

The SPCA in Nova Scotia says a huge donation of pet food couldn’t have come at a better time. The organization received almost 17,000 kilograms of cat & dog food this week from PetSmart Charities of Canada. This is the largest single donation ever received by the Nova Scotia SPCA.
