A high profile member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Nova Scotia has been convicted and sentenced for theft. 75 year old Thomas Waters stole almost $5000 from the Halifax Central Poppy Fund. Waters says he used the money to buy things for veterans like TV sets and reclining chairs.

A man has died after a crash near Springhill early yesterday morning. RCMP were called to Connector Road, off Highway 104 where they found a truck that had gone off the road and hit some trees. The man’s name or age has not been released.

Police are investigating 3 small fires that were intentionally set in an alleyway, a dumpster and garbage can on Quinpool Road Tuesday night. All of the fires were put out quickly and there was no major damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
