A man from East Preston is facing an additional year in prison for threatening the 14 year old girl he’d already been convicted of trafficking. 22 year old Owen Gibson-Skeir will add a year on top of his 7 year term. He pleaded guilty to threatening the girl in court yesterday in Halifax.


Another Halifax-area lawyer is in trouble with the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. Duane Rhyno of Lower Sackville has been charged with professional misconduct and breaching its code of conduct. A court date has not yet been scheduled.


An investigation is in the works after an assault happened between an off-duty male RCMP officer and a woman known to him. Last Friday, RCMP responded to a domestic dispute at a home in Bible Hill. The male was taken into custody but has since been released on conditions. No charges have been laid yet.
