The provincial Government has announced $11.4 million dollars in funding for the Dartmouth General Hospital. $8.5 million will go toward equipment, furniture & information technology. And $2.8 million will be used to demolish part of a provincially owned warehouse near the hospital to create more spaces for hospital parking.

Premier Stephen McNeil says that documents related to the deal between his government and Bay Ferries need to be kept secret. Tory Leader Tim Houston took the case to NS Supreme Court yesterday, saying taxpayers have a right to know how the Liberals are spending their tax money. Although the Liberal caucus called the court action “a political stunt,” the premier would not.
8 passengers & 3 crew members were left stranded for almost 6 hours on board the LaHave ferry yesterday due to a mechanical failure. The ferry stopped 200 metres from shore around 9AM after the vessel’s propelling system cracked. Repairs may leave the ferry out of commission for up to 2 days.
