Last night a 5 pound Chihuahua had to be put down after it was hit with a lawn sign by a man. The dog’s owner, Natalie Wilson says that her 10 year old dog, Eugenie, was on the fenced-in front porch of her Davison Street home in Halifax when she heard a smashing noise around 7:00PM. A 36 year old Halifax man has been arrested and is facing charges.

Sears Canada is seeking court approval to begin liquidation at all of its remaining stores. This would see about 130 outlets close and put about 12,000 employees out of work. The only Sears department store left in Nova Scotia is at the Halifax Shopping Centre, which would see at least 140 people losing their jobs.

Starting next month, Nova Scotians in need of a new driver’s licence or photo ID will be getting it delivered in the mail. The main reason for this change is to protect Nova Scotians against identity theft and fraud. Although the cards will no longer be printed at Access Nova Scotia, residents will still need to go there to renew the licence up to six months before the expiry date.
