The provincial PC caucus has announced it’s planning to challenge the Liberal government’s refusal to release information about the cost of the Yarmouth ferry service. Last month the Department of Transportation & Infrastructure refused to reveal how much taxpayers are paying Bay Ferries to run its service to Maine. PC leader Tim Houston is filing a notice to appeal in Nova Scotia Supreme Court this morning.

A fire that started in a clothes dryer in a GoodLife Fitness gym forced a downtown Halifax hotel to evacuate after heavy smoke filled the building on Saturday night. Guests were moved from the Barrington Hotel, formerly a Delta, to the food court of the Scotia Square mall. No one was injured.
St. FX University has suspended its women’s basketball coach for the remainder of the season after a player was injured from a disciplinary measure. The injury resulted from improper supervision during an on court exercise. Lee Anna Osei had only been coaching at the university since June 2018.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the IWK may have set a record. It’s been just over a year without having one case of a central line-associated bloodstream infection. What makes it more remarkable is that the staff achieved this while moving into a newly renovated department. Congratulations to the staff at the IWK!
