A police officer has been charged for using excessive force while arresting a man outside a Halifax bar in the spring. Charged is 47 year old Constable Derek Fish of the Halifax Regional Police Force. He’s due for court in November.


An American woman who was part of a plot to attack the Halifax Shopping Centre on Valentine’s Day 2015 will have to wait to learn her fate. Lindsay Souvannarath’s lawyer asked for an adjournment making her new court date in April. She’ll remains in custody until then.


Clayton Johnson of Shelburne, who spent 5 years in prison for being wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife, has died. Johnson’s wife, Janice, died after a fall down the stairs in 1989 but he was accused of beating her to death, was convicted of murder in 1993 and was sent to prison. He died last week at the age of 71.
