The IWK Health Centre’s top financial official has resigned. Stephen D’Arcy has been on paid leave since an auditor’s report showed former CEO Tracy Kitch spent $47,000 in personal charges to the IWK. D’Arcy knowingly helped Kitch prepare an incomplete expense statement to meet provincial reporting requirements.

Charges have been laid after a 34 year old man’s body was found outside of a home in New Minas on Sunday. 30 year old Nikolas Salsman has been charged with second degree murder in the death. He’s due for court next month.

Even with crews working non-stop around the clock, the construction on St. Margarets Bay Road in Halifax will not be finished on schedule. The city wanted the work finished by the middle of October, but instead the work should be finished 2 weeks late, at the end of October. Construction was slowed down when crews unexpectedly found aged damaged water pipes underground.
