Police have charged a Cole Harbour man with sexual assault of a child at a Halifax daycare. The incident took place on August 22nd at the Kids & Company daycare on Barrington Street. 20 year old Mitchell Casavcheia turned himself in to police and is scheduled for court.


Meteorlogists are tracking Hurricane Jose to see where it may strike next. The Canadian Hurricane Centre says even though hurricane Jose is currently in a holding pattern it could still impact us here in Nova Scotia. The hurricane is a Category 3 storm that’s currently north of Puerto Rico, with wind speeds of about 170 km/h.


A Scottish woman living in Centreville has launched a bid to rename a Nova Scotia river & bridge that honours a controversial historical figure. Isobel Hamilton wants to see the name of the Cornwallis River in the Valley and the bridge that crosses the river changed. Hamilton says not only did Edward Cornwallis, the former governor of Nova Scotia issue bounties on Mi’kmaq scalps, he also played a role at the Battle of Culloden in her homeland of Scotland.
