A lot of Nova Scotia Power customers wondered why they were in the dark yesterday. Most of Halifax and Dartmouth accounted for nearly half of the 249,000 customers without electricity. A problem with transmission lines near Port Hawkesbury & Memramcook, N.B. were the root cause of the massive power outage.

A 53 year old Dartmouth man has pleaded guilty after hitting a woman with his car in May 2017. Gerald Desmond was already facing a whole list of charges, including attempted murder. Police say Desmond knew the woman and had been arguing with her before hitting her with his car.

A new $13 million performing arts centre could be up and running in downtown Halifax by 2020. The group behind the venture hopes to nail down funding from all 3 levels of government by the end of the year. The Link Performing Arts Society will lease space in the former convention centre on Argyle Street.
