A man from Upper Sackville has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to a fatal house fire. Josh Crowell has been charged in the death of 27 year old Laura Ross. On April 3rd RCMP were called to a fatal fire on South Rawdon Road where they found female remains but were able to rescue 2 young children.

A Bridgewater police chief facing sex charges involving a 17 year old girl wants a trial by judge. John Collyer was suspended by the town’s police commission on May 4th for 60 days with pay, the same day it was announced he was facing charges. Collyer is due for court in April.

People who work in the Bay of Fundy say they’ve seen more waste, balloons specifically, in the water this year than ever before. One whale-watch tour operator says he’s seen more balloons this year than in the last 30 years combined. Human-caused threats to wildlife are being examined closer after 8 critically endangered North Atlantic right whales were found dead in Canadian waters over the last 2 months.
