A student at Breton Education Centre in New Waterford has been charged with assault after he attacked a school officer. The officer was helping school staff deal with the unco-operative student yesterday morning when the teen injured the officer’s face with a pencil. The 14 year old New Waterford boy is scheduled for court.


A 39 year old high school teacher in Kings County is facing sex charges involving a teenage girl. RCMP were contacted by the victim in July who says she was 16 years old when the incidents began in 2013. David Harrison, a math teacher at Northeast Kings Education Centre in Canning, has since been arrested.


Canada’s largest grocery store chains have pulled all romaine lettuce products from their store shelves due to the threat of E. coli. Yesterday Loblaws & Sobeys announced it was recalling and removing all romaine lettuce products. There are currently 18 confirmed cases of E. coli under investigation in Canada connected with romaine lettuce.
