William Sandeson’s lawyer made closing arguments yesterday, saying that Sandeson is not a criminal mastermind, and urged a jury to acquit his client of murder.
Sandeson has been on trial for first-degree murder after Samson was killed in August 2015 during a deal over nine kilograms of marijuana.
The Crown is scheduled to deliver its closing arguments today and the jury isn’t expected to being deliberations until Thursday.
-Tens of thousands of bees we killed and a community garden was damaged in an apparent act of vandalism in Spryfield over the weekend,after a basketball knocked over the hives Friday, which would have left the bees exposed to the heavy rainfall.
News of the vandalism spread quickly across social media and support has been coming in, including a $500 donation yesterday.
Although it may be too late in the season to get new hives going, they’ll take care of the one remaining hive and are making plans for next year.
-The trial of a doctor from Tantallon accused of fraud and unlawful possession of narcotics resumed yesterday in Bridgewater provincial court with testimony from a local pharmacy manager.
Dr. Sarah Jones is accused of three counts of fraud, one count of unlawful possession of oxycodone, and one count of fraudulently drawing a document related to prescriptions in the name of a patient, Merle Chase.
Jones’s trial ran for several days in April before resuming this week.
