The Liberal Party has dropped its Pictou East candidate Matthew MacKnight over inappropriate social media commentary. The Liberals say the comments made previously by Mr. MacKnight are not acceptable and don’t comply with the values of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. No word yet on who the replacement candidate for Pictou East will be.

A former neighbour testified at William Sandeson’s first-degree murder trial yesterday in Halifax. Pookiel McCabe says he heard a loud bang and saw blood inside the accused’s apartment the night Taylor Samson disappeared. Sandeson is charged in the killing of Samson, whose body has not been found.

A teenager has been charged with impaired driving in Nova Scotia. On Sunday morning in Little Dover of Guysborough County the teen was driving a car when they hit a pick-up truck head-on that was coming in the opposite direction. The driver of the car, a 17-year-old from New Harbour, was arrested and has been charged.
