The man accused in the death of Matthew Sudds made his first court appearance yesterday on a charge of first-degree murder. 32 year old Ricardo Whynder was brought to Halifax after being arrested last week in Surrey, B.C. Sudds’s body was found near Africville in October 2013.


Health officials are warning about a designer drug in Halifax known as U4. The powerful opioid killed 4 people in Halifax last year. Toxicology reports show two of the fatal overdoses were caused by a mixture of U-4 and fentanyl.


RCMP have 3 men in custody after responding to a call about gunshots being fired at a residence in North Preston. Police were called to Cain Street shortly after 1:00AM yesterday. Two firearms were seized and the 3 suspects were arrested without incident.
