A mother and daughter are lucky to be alive after their car skidded across black ice, rolled down an embankment, landed on an icy pond and began to sink in Hantsport. As freezing water rushed into the vehicle, Ashley Holland was able to unstrap her 4 year old daughter Macy from her car seat in the back seat and get out of the car. Holland was taking her daughter to a birthday party around noon Sunday when the incident happened.

Nova Scotia Power says someone could have died because of a dangerous theft that took place during Sunday night’s storm. Overnight someone broke into the Spryfield substation and ripped out copper wire that was in use. Police are now investigating.
The brand new Dartmouth Sportsplex has a brand new name! The Zatzman Sportsplex has been named after Joseph Zatzman, former mayor of Dartmouth, who’s family has donated $750,000 to the Sportsplex. The refurbished sports facility will resume regular operations February 25th.
