Halifax Regional Police and the RCMP will not be apologizing for street checks at this time. Both police forces feel it would come off as disingenuous since this issue is very complex and sensitive. The Halifax Board of Police Commissioners asked the forces to prepare an apology after a meeting they had together last month.


A urologist in Truro has admitted to professional misconduct in the case of 2 of his patients. Dr. Jacob Puthenparumpil will get a 1 month licence suspension and he must also pay $20,000 plus tax for investigation costs. Since the filing of these complaints, there haven’t been anymore complaints made against him.


Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health is urging people who rely on well water to ensure it’s tested twice a year for bacteria & every 2 years for manganese. The element can interfere with children’s brain development and it can also affect adults’ memory, attention and movements. The mineral is found in soil throughout Nova Scotia and levels vary across the province.
