GO CANADA GOLD!

What are the Nova Scotia connections to Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo?

In the Boxing Day 4-2 win over Finland Drake Batherson of New Minas, Nova Scotia scored the game winner!

Drake is one of the leading scorers in the QMJHL with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. His dad Norm is from North Sydney, he and his dad are Ottawa Senators Draft picks.

When young Drake played for the Valley Wild Cats in the NSMMHL (Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League) my son Drake Robinson, the referee, officiated Drake Batherson. #DrizzyNation

Team Canada won their second straight game at the World Juniors last night blanking Slovakia 6-0.

And what about the Moose Country connections to Team Canada?

Former Halifax Mooseheads Coach Dom Ducharme is the Head Coach for Canada for the second year in a row and current Halifax Mooseheads Equipment Chris MacDonald is also back representing our Country from Moose Country!

Team Canada is off today (Thursday) as they prepare to play the US in the first-ever World Juniors outdoor game Friday afternoon at 4 our time, weather permitting. It’ll be played where the NFL Buffalo Bills play.

It’s a football stadium turned into a hockey rink, right now the Buffalo weather for tomorrow calls for a few centimeters of snow and a minus 14 degree windchill, so it’ll be a bit frosty for the kids to play.

Good luck to Drake, Dom and Chris a.k.a “Macker” from Hot Country 1035!

Bring home the Gold fellas!
