The Halifax Mooseheads have named Antoine Morand the team Captain for the 2018-19 season.
Hey says “It’s an honour for me to be named Captain of this great organization and hockey club.”
The 19-year-old Mercier, QC native joined the Mooseheads via trade in June just days after helping the Acadie-Bathurst Titan win the 100th Memorial Cup Championship in Regina. Morand is a 2nd round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks and is currently leading the Mooseheads in scoring with 13 points (5 goals 8 assists) in 8 games played.
“I got chosen as Captain but a ton of guys could have also been (named Captain). For me and the others it doesn’t change anything, the leaders are still going to lead and we’ll just make sure that everybody is involved.”
While Morand will wear the “C”, four players were named Alternates and will split the duties while at home and on the road. Recently acquired Samuel Asselin will serve as an Alternate along with Jared McIsaac, Joel Bishop and Benoit-Olivier Groulx.
Meanwhile the Mooseheads will be well represented at the Canada Russia Series with five players named to the QMJHL Team!
There’s 9 more sleeps until the Herd’s Home Opener on October 27th, but who’s counting?
GO MOOSE GO!
